Quick life overview
Feb 4, 2007
Just throwing a few life tidbits into the blog before I go back to work. I have some new projects in the works (including photography!) that will get up on the site eventually. Right now there's a lot of hubbub going on at RIT as usual. It's time to pick our new schedules for next quarter, and holy god, I'm starting the job search!
Ideally I'm aiming for a Spring / Summer co-op, as RIT requires three quarters of co-op but doesn't allow you to take three in a row. If I can't land one by Spring I'll start in the Summer and go into Fall, which will create all sorts of housing issues, but whatever. I'll let you guys know about any future job interview processes.
Other than that, I've had a lot of work to do lately. I have a term paper due tomorrow, lots of labs, lots of physics homework, and a few external projects I'm working on too. It seems that I'm only motivated to do the projects that aren't related to my major, but it's all got to get done. I've also started reading again strangely enough, a habit I dropped since leaving high school. I've finished two books since Christmas break and I'm almost done with a third. House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski was the first, which is an excellent and mind-boggling narrative. It's pretty hard to describe the plot, since it's a book about a guy who finds a written documentary about a film which doesn't seem to exist, and the film is about a house which also doesn't seem to exist. The house has some amazing metaphysical properties, and...I'd recommend the book to anyone. Fascinating read. The second book was Mathematicians In Love by Rudy Rucker, a combo mathematician / writer who, in this case, put together a sci-fi novel that was a pleasure from start to finish. And the third, going back to what I used to read in high school, is the second book in the Dark Tower series, The Drawing of Three by Stephen King. It seems to be pretty typical King; lots of the fantastical, some horror thrown in for good measure, and the occasionally completely unnecessary paragraph here or there. Not bad overall.
So look out for more updates in the future. I already have some new photography content that's ready to go up, but it needs more material before I upload it. And don't forget to check out the Uploader, which is prettier than ever. See you in hell, term paper!
